So long....farewell.....

I'm saying goodbye to the candidsbycourtney.blogspot.com blog. It's been a great blog in the 20 months since the birth of Candids by Courtney photography. But alas, it is no longer fulfilling my needs! Check out the new Candids by Courtney blog here

taz

This is my wonderful dear friend and neighbor Joanie and her dog of 11 years Taz. Joanie and Kim just found out that Taz is very sick. As you can see from the shaved areas on her leg and stomach, she just spent some time in the hospital. They asked me to come over and capture them as a family. It was my most moving and emotional photography experience.

I'm so proud of these pictures for many reasons. First, I feel I did a pretty good job, and second, because they're for someone who I truly care about. I met Judea on the first day of school in fifth grade. We were both at a new school that year. We became the best of friends. We were BFF. We went to the same middle and high school. As we got older in school, we grew apart, and made new friends. I saw her again at our ten year reunion. She flew all the way down here from New York for only 24 hours to go to the reunion. Now she lives in California, right outside of San Francisco, with her husband and two GORGEOUS children. She's here on vacation! She contacted me on Facebook (gotta love Facebook) and asked me to photograph her family while here. I can't even begin to tell you how much this session meant to me. I wanted to give her something something that I could really be proud of. My best work. Her family is beautiful and I'm so honored and proud that she asked me to capture them.

I love you!

i think this is my new favorite picture EVER!

Her kids were very good sports, although there were probably a hundred more things they would rather be doing than having their picture taken.

I've known mom since we were in middle school. We went to the same high school, traveled to Europe, and even years later worked at the same school. And now here we are both mommies! This is her little guy. About to turn one in May, and is already walking.....YIKES!

Stella vs the Cereal

Stella had her first taste of solid food (if that's what you want to call it) yesterday, Earth's Best Organic Rice Cereal. YUM! Although her face may say otherwise, she really enjoyed the whole experience. Kicking her feet and smiling between mouth fulls. (if you'd like to see the set in it's entirety click here

This is little Miss S. She just celebrated her first birthday!

She has a gorgeous older brother who adores her.....

She in turn adores her big brother....

Family and friends gathered for her first birthday/baby naming. See, little Miss S was born at 28 weeks and spent 100 days in the NICU. So the fact that she is this strong, happy, gorgeous little girl is definitely a reason to celebrate. I'm so thrilled to have been a part of it.

Meet the Shusters! Actually, you've met them before......a few times. I'm trying to think how many times.....hmmmmm....it's been a few. Anyway, check this out.....they have three children. A five year old, and a set of two year old twin boys......and the best part......all born on the same day!!! That's right...you heard it.....all born on the same day.......soooooo, it would only be fitting that mom and dad throw the best birthday parties ever!!

This is little Miss "R". A friend of mine wanted to take her to get a manicure for her birthday, but she didn't want to wait for her nails to dry. (I don't blame her, waiting for your nails to dry is a real bummer!)
