A Metamorphosis Lesson

My girlfriend Amy and I have decided that Thursdays are field trip days. We're going to take our kids on a fun educational outing. Really take advantage of all the great things to do here. Last week was Butterfly World. I've always wanted to go. It was a bit expensive. $25 for adults and children under 3 free. We really did have such a great time. The five of us walked through at a leisurely pace and sat at park benches as the kids explored nearby. There really were butterflies everywhere. Big ones...little ones. Butterflies whose wings looked dull and brown, almost moth-like but when they opened were the most brilliant shade of blue. They sold butterfly cocoons in the gift shop. One free with the purchase of two. So all the kids took them home. Even Stella. The first of our two butterflies emerged from it's cocoon yesterday.

Owen wasn't sure what to think of the whole thing. I'd let him hold the container and once the butterfly started moving around he'd jump.

I Love Sun Flare

Yesterday I met a family at my favorite beach spot only to find out, to my dismay, that the lifeguard stand had been taken down and removed!!! I loved that lifeguard stand. But the sunset, and the sun flare more than made up for it.

What is sunflare???.........Sunflare happens, when the sun is low in the sky, and it's rays hit the edge of your lens in a way that it leaves little rainbow kisses across your image. (How's that for technical!?) Sun flare is just so organic and natural. It's beautiful and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Well this family is packing up and moving to Texas in March. Mom really wanted pictures on the beach as a reminder of the home they're saying goodbye to!

The Heart Gallery

I'm so excited that I was once again asked to be a Heart Gallery Photographer. The Heart Gallery is a traveling photography exhibit that showcases children who are in need of a family. Meet "k", a spunky 9 year old who is soon to turn 10. She was excited to tell me all about her upcoming birthday party. The newest Heart Gallery exhibit will begin this spring. Check out their website:

Happy Inauguration Day!!!!

To celebrate this momentous day, my girlfriend Amy and I decided to have a little inauguration party for the kids! What better way to celebrate the swearing in of Barack Obama, our 44th President, than by eating red and blue jello stars with cool whip and with some trampoline jumping!! We truly are blessed!
